A foray into retro computing
Well, after many years, I've been bitten by the retro computing bug. I'm of the age where I worked with a lot of those retro PC's and servers in my job as a sysadmin in the 1990's.
When I saw a Baby AT Mini Tower PC on a local auction site I knew I just had to have it so I could re-live those days again. This dream was short lived as I pulled out of the bidding at approx NZ $225. I admire the lucky person who ended up with that beige box but, I couldn't justify that sort of outlay for what is really and truly an old piece of junk. Who knows how much I would have had to spend to secure it, $250 or even $300 plus! Anyway, so long Baby AT box...
However, all is not lost. I did manage to get an AT motherboard, with a Pentium MMX 233 CPU from the same auction site for about $50. I actually wanted this as an upgrade for the box mentioned above but, this was sadly not to be. All is not lost as I can at least pair it with an ATX case whilst waiting for another Baby AT case to appear - that's if one ever does! These boxes are starting to get rare now.
So, I've taken my first steps into the rabbit hole of retro computing...
